Semester Resolution Reflections

Hello again from the Devo Team!

This week we will be revisiting our semester resolutions. Basically we will talk about how our resolutions are going, and if they are still in the process of being completed or not. After that we will be discussing that challenges that may or may not have arisen during this time.

In addition to that think about and answer these questions:

Have you been able to stay on track with your resolution?

            How practical was the idea?

Or did you forget you had set a resolution?

Lastly: Have you developed as a person while trying to accomplish this goal?

After posting about your resolution and how it has been going so far be sure that you comment on two other posts from people. The comments can be simple, but make sure that you share a little information as to if it relates to your own experience trying to make the resolution happen, or how it may have helped to develop you as a person.

Quick re-cap: Post about your resolution, answer the four questions, and comment on at least two others original posts.

This semester I had made the resolution to work out more often and eat healthier. I believe I have definitely been able to stay on track with this resolution.

I have gotten to the point where a few days without exercise really affects how I feel. Even though I have not seen a noticeable change in body composition, I definitely have improved my stamina during cardio exercise. In addition, I now rarely go to the commons and I make a grocery run every week in order to always have fresh fruit and veggies in my fridge.

I definitely feel like I have grown as a person from this resolution, partially because it has shown me the importance of discipline, but also that self-denial becomes easier as I continue to do it. I believe I am beginning to form healthy new habits that will continue in my life for many years.

Have you been able to stay on track with your resolution?

Nope. :/ lol

How practical was the idea?

The idea was quite practical, I just needed to keep myself motivated and that didn't happen.

Or did you forget you had set a resolution?

I forgot that i set a resolution. I haven't been very good at those...ever. :)

Lastly: Have you developed as a person while trying to accomplish this goal?

I believe that i have developed as a person in many ways. This year has taught me a lot! I just need to remember everything that I commit to.

It's been on and off staying on my resolution because the stress of school and these last couple weeks has definitely been difficult. As of right now, I've been preparing myself for moving out and moving into my apartment. My resolution has been to workout and eat healthier. I'm at a weight loss of 15 pounds, not much, but I'm at a standstill because of the stress.

How practical was the idea?
I guess I never counted in down time for myself when I was going to figure out when I was going to go workout. At the beginning of the semester, I was free a lot of the time, but now I feel like I'm booked. I never had that relaxation/homework time filled in.

Lastly: Have you developed as a person while trying to accomplish this goal?
I definitely think more about what I'm eating because of this resolution. I have also learned that when I do workout, I do feel good about it and I do want to continue it more when I have a little time open up.

Kyle: If you believe...YOU CAN ACHIEVE! GOOD LUCK!

Alex: I do the same thing! Fresh fruit and veggies are very important to have around when you are trying to eat healthier! I completely removed most sweets from my diet and it's been great!

I think my resolution was something about eating healthier and just kinda watching out for myself a little bit more.

Have you been able to stay on track with your resolution?

Not really on the eating side of things, but I have made an effort to take better care of myself and it is helpful!

How practical was the idea?

In theory, it was pretty good and seemed like a good idea

Or did you forget you had set a resolution?

I didn't forget.

Have you developed as a person while trying to accomplish this goal?

Yes, I learned I should keep my goals simple so I can focus on one thing at a time

Alex- I wish I had as much ambition with my resolutions as you do, good work!

Everyone- we should have a staff work out day (rock climbing or something?) sometime since it seems to be a common factor in resolutions!

My resolution was working out more and eating healthier.

Working out has been on and off, as the pool hours are very awkward. I have been able to eat healthier though. I try to get fruit and vegetables as often as I can and don't get pizza or burgers often.

The idea is very practical but I just haven't committed as much as I should have.

I didn't forget that I had a resolution, I just let other things take up the time I should have been working out during.

I believe that I've developed as a person quite a bit this semester. I've become more independent and self-reliant. I've been able to recognize flaws in myself that I'm working on changing and have been gaining more self confidence.

Alex- Great job on sticking to your goals!

Jordan/Everyone - I think the group work out thing would be a great idea. Holding each other accountable will prevent the "I'll do it later" or "I can skip just this once" mindsets from taking hold.

I have been able to stay on track with my resolution, its been going well but could still improve. I set the resolution to get my homework done sooner then later.
My idea was very practical, and i can apply it to pretty much every day. I sort of forgot, but after thinking about it I have still been on track.
As a person I think I have developed, but more in the sense of self accomplishment and using my time wisely.

Kyle and Kyle:

I forgot for a while as well! Its not the end of the world, but its a good time to revisit the idea!

And god job with staying on track, getting into a healthy workout routine can be really challenging.

My resolution for this semester was to try not to stress out so much.

Have I been able to stay on track?
-Well, in a way yes. I have come to accept that it is just in my character to stress out about things.

How practical was the idea?
-The idea seemed fairly practical, its just a different story about how to achieve this resolution

Did I forget?
-No I actually wrote it down... otherwise I probably would have. I am fairly forgetful.

Have you developed as a person trying to accomplish this goal?
-I believe so. Just thinking about ways to accomplish my resolution, I became more self-aware.

Way to go!!! I like your resolution quite a bit. I would agree with the importance of discipline, keep up the Good Work!!

Kyle: Same goes for you man! Keep up the good work. For some motivation I'll share one of my favorite quotes with you: "You don't FIND time to workout, you MAKE time."

I plan on getting A’s this semester.
I plan on turning in all homework
I plan on reviewing my daily notes every night
I plan on holding study groups

I will work hard each day to eliminate my mistakes and work on knowing my material not just memorizing it.
This goal is important to me because I want to be as knowledgeable as possibly while in my career so I can pull my own weight and help others, and plus I love engineering and its material.
My resolution is going great and I am on top of it. There is still a purpose of completing it because it the semester is not done yet.
Have you been able to stay on track with your resolution?
Yes I have been able to stay on track of my resolutions.
How practical was the idea?
Very practical because we are here to be students
Or did you forget you had set a resolution?
I did not for about my resolutions
Lastly: Have you developed as a person while trying to accomplish this goal?
Yes I have. I have become a better student.

This semester my goal was to continue on with my diet and hit -100 pounds.
I most definitely stuck to my diet and working out which I was happy about since I have been super busy and fitting in time for that was tough but I made it work.
I have reached just about -90 and although I haven't hit the 100 yet I am still proud of what I have done and you cannot rush this stuff safely.
I think hitting the 100 was practical but also a bit of a stretch, I know I will hit it eventully.

Nolan: way to write it down and stay on track!
Kyle P: keep working hard, find a schedule and stick to it. You can do it!
