So far, Daisy and my floor seems to be bonding. We had a few cases of roommates knowing each other from high school so would isolate themselves and not attend many orientation activities, some that had moved in early because of a sport, and some that have been sticking together and only hanging with other residents from their school that live in other buildings or floors. beyond those few couples though our floor seems to be bonding quite well. We see them seeking out each other to go to eat together or went to find their classes together. We had at least one girl that would isolate herself and act sad and stand off ish when Daisy and I would approach her. We observed it was most likely due to homesickness but she has seen to be in better spirits the past few days and has went to orientation activities with other groups of girls from the floor.
And one cool thing about our staff team? I absolutely love all you guys! I miss seeing everyone every day and its always a perk in the day when I can talk to any of our staff or hang out between duty rounds!

So far 3rd Milnes has been doing great! The girls are all very respectful and we have had very little issues with quiet hours and policies. A lot of them are more quiet people, so that makes getting to know them a little harder. A lot of them also keep their doors closed a lot of the time, so I have been encouraging them in one-on-ones and through email to leave them open.
Most of the girls attended orientation activities, with the exception of just a few. Tiffany was an awesome, fun, motivating BDA, so that made the week all the better!
I have gotten a lot of great ideas for floor events from the girls on my wing such an intramurals, baking, and doing the high-ropes course together. Many of them have the genuine desire to bond and become a tight-knit floor. Of course, this is what I want, too! I am hoping they will get to know each other more and more through the classes a lot of them have together and through floor events (:
MC Staff... I miss you! I am super excited for our first meeting on Tuesday so I can see you all again! I love that all of you have been so encouraging and supportive of each other during this first week. (:
Bye for now!
It is so incredible having my residents here! So far all has been going well. Orientation activities had a pretty good turn out. There were a couple of room mate pairs that either knew each other from high school, or immediately isolated themselves from the rest of the floor by always having their door shut and never coming to orientation events.
Other than that, the floor seems to be bonding very well with each other and also making connections with sororities and other on campus organizations. They all are super excited about getting involved on campus which i am excited for.
the first floor meeting went well, my residents are not hesitant to come to me for questions or advice. more than half of the girls keep their doors open when they are available which is great to see! I have also had to mediate a room mate situation and I am so thankful that my residents already feel comfortable with me to come to me with their problems/concerns.
A note to staff, I have had so much fun getting to know you guys during training :) we are a great happy little family! I think we have an AMAZING academic school year ahead of us.
As of right now, 4th Milnes is my happy place :)
Everyone seems to be getting along really well; doors are open, and connections with one another are starting to grow. Although we've already had some roommate issues and a few emotional breakdowns, I have a really great feeling about the group of girls on my floor.
As most of you already know, I didn't have the easiest start to my floor last year, (or truly ever.) I didn't have the floor experience that I hoped for or the overall community I wanted for the girls. I always felt that I wasn't doing my job well enough. I found myself in the "Pit of Pain" after only a few weeks as an RA and never truly got out of it until Spring Break or so. I've learned so much from last year and I've already changed a lot about myself as an RA this year. I've realized what is important and things that maybe aren't as much.
My first floor meeting went really well. I felt that they understood me as a person and really got my sense of humor! They also asked a ton of questions, were really focused and seemed to enjoy the ice breaker that I did in the beginning. Along with that, one-on-ones are going FABULOUS! All but 2 of my residents have signed up and I'm already halfway done with them!
I'm so excited about this year and the connections that everyone is making. Including our staff!!!!
Obviously, we're the "dream team!" I think we all work so well together; we balance each other out and are such POSITIVE POLLY'S all the time! :) I can't wait to build better relationships with all of you and see where this year takes us!

3rd Chinnock is pretty amazing already! Almost all the guys are keeping their doors open, and hanging out with each other. They have had a few movie nights, as well as gone to Mikes and other things around town together. Almost all of the floor made it to the Orientation events, as well as First Floor Meeting. Its incredibly easy to get them talking about things they love to do, as well as interested in things other people like to do.
One cool thing about MC staff is the fact everyone is willing to work together. More often then not when someone has conflicting schedules another staff member is available and ready to hop in where needed. Its a fantastic feeling to be a part of the staff!
Let's just get this out of the way: I REALLY LIKE THE LEARNING COMMUNITY. They seem to have connected quickly, and are all quite friendly with each other, which is really nice to see!
As far as 3rd Chinnock goes, they were quiet for about a day and now are hanging out and kinda just go on their own and ask Joe or myself if they have questions about anything. They are quite the awesome group of guys and I think we are in for a good year with this bunch.
Well staff, you guys rock. I'll be honest, I was a little worried at first about how this would all go, but man, you all are awesome and it is an honor and privilege to work with you all.
My first impression of my floor was that we are going to get along great! From the start, everyone was pretty willing to participate and get to know each other. No one refused to participate in any of the events, and no one secluded their selves to the point where they weren't social. Now, they all have their doors open, they all hang out together, they try to include everyone as a group, and they all have a positive attitude. There are a few guys that, from time to time, are in their rooms alone more often than others, but when someone walks by they always stop and invite them. I love the sense of community my floor has and I hope it continues to grow stronger.
I LOVE MY STAFF!!! We are such a close family and always there for each other. I like that we can all talk to each other about anything and come to each other when we need help. I can't wait to make more memories and hang out with you all more!
With love,
Spirit Caribou
So far, 1st MC has been pretty good! My girls keep their doors open and "make the rounds" to the other rooms to introduce themselves to each other. I do have one girl who stays in her room most of the time by herself but she is keeping the door open, which is good! A lot of my girls have already started to get involved on campus, whether it be through intramurals, clubs, or Greek life. A couple of my girls do seem to be pretty homesick, but they are slowly finding their niche on campus and are always willing to chat. I have already had to solve a roommate issue between two of my girls, but everything seems to be going better with the pair. My guys have been good as well, although I have already been able to peg some of them as troublemakers. Most of them are very respectful of me and have participated in everything I have asked them to participate in. I do have a group of football players who seem to avoid me as much as possible, and I have had a very difficult time even meeting them. A lot of the guys do seem to keep their doors shut, but when I do see the doors open, there always seems to be a good number of the guys from the floor in one room.
As for staff, I can't even begin to express how thrilled I am to be part of such an incredible group. To be honest, I was a bit nervous that I wasn't going to connect with our staff this year as well as I connected with my staff last year, but I am happy to say that I was very, VERY wrong. I feel even more connected to this staff than my old staff, and I absolutely love that we all get along so well. I am so in love with this staff that it is making my decision about when to graduate even MORE difficult than it already is. Regardless of when that is, I am so thrilled to be a part of this staff, and I can't wait to see what this year brings for us!
My desk staff is amazing, everyone is doing there best at all of their tasks and asking questions when needed. Communication is key and it is working great thus far. RAs are doing a great job with the new expectations and taking on the desk as a new task.
As for the MC Staff I am so lucky. Everyone is great and has a positive outlook on most everything. If I look back to spring training I would never have guessed how this staff would have turned out. Everyone has opened up their shell and shared their personality to the group. I am excited to see where this year will take us.

Thanks for posting everyone!
2nd floor chinnock is great. All of my guys are really chill. They are open to anyone and leave their doors open. Most of them know their roommates and several of them are from the same towns. It's interesting to hear where they are from. I have some students from Illinois. My floor is getting along fine and they are a good group! There are a few who are still holding back a little but they will still leave their doors open. I have a student on my floor who is interested in getting involved! Asking about H.E.C. and being an RA! I hope he excels and I know I can be a part of that!
I think we are the dream team. Absolutely amazing. I like how we can all just talk and get along. Especially on rounds and when we see each other. Great staff, great time!!
Thanks everyone for sharing. I too think we have a dream team of a staff and that's what I tell the other HDs all the time. I am so thankful that Adam did such an outstanding job of hiring a great team for me to work with!
