Hello again
Staff, this week is our Devo post, and it is about your favorite, or
inspirational quotes. So first we would like for you to find at least two of
your favorite quotes, and write them down for us to read. After that, tell us
what the quote means to you, or why it means so much, and how it has affected
you as a person.
So after
you write your quote, and what it means to you, we would also like you to think
about the quotes that the other members of our staff have shown us. Comment on
two other quotes and tell us how they make you feel, or what you think about
them, and if it can be applied to your life as well. The two quotes you pick to
comment on do not have to be from the same person.

I'm not sure when I first this, but I think this wise saying has really applied to me since I was young. I am always very aware of what I spend my money on, and look for ways to save even a little bit. Buy used, do without, wait for sales, etc. I don't think this makes me particularly special in college (since I think most of us have to make financial sacrifices somewhere), but I know I have definitely benefited from it.
"Choose a job you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life." -Unknown
Although my view on this quote has changed a bit as I have matured, I know for a fact that it influenced the major and career path I chose. I am still convinced that I would be much happier doing something I love and not make a whole lot of money, than do something I hate and make alot of money.

It's really hard to pick a single quote from the book that has had the most influence on my life...but this one stood out to me as being not only good but DIFFICULT to do and is still challenging me.

I feel like this quote explains me well because in order for me to not get so worked up on certain things in my life, I use humor to make me less stressed with things. My joking/crazy personality literally keeps me sane.

I really enjoy this quote because everyone has the opportunity to change their path in life. For some it may be harder and for others it may be easy. The important thing to realize is futures can be changed. It's a very motivating quote for me.

This one is just funny, but explains me well. I like getting things done so it can feel like I accomplished something each day.

I like this quote so much because it just proves that just by being yourself you can impact a person so much and mean a lot to them. It is just a reminder that when you feel so small know that someone is thinking of you in a bigger way.

With Christ being the center of my life this quote is a reminder to me that even when I feel down I am still loved and fearfully and wonderfully made.

Tiff: I love this this quote because it reminds me to go with the flow and not be so stuck on schedule sometimes, and that change is ok.

Alex: I completely agree that if you choose something you really love work really isn't work. This quote is a reminder that even when days go bad at your job that it is worth it.
"Enjoy the Little Things" - Columbus from Zombieland the Movie.
This quote really captured my attention. It stood out to me even after the movie had ended, and continues to remind me that all the little things in life can be some of the most worth it things. Over time I've developed it into my own version of the quote that applies more to myself, that being: "Its all about the little things in life."
"Art is what you can get away with." - Andy Warhol
This quote means a lot to me due to the fact a large part of my life has been spent doing some form of art. Through grade school people would ask for my help with it, high school I took every art class that I was allowed to, and now in college I'm an art major. This quote continues to remind me that I need to challenge not only myself, but the "system" as well. Challenging the system is what gets you noticed in the art world, and now more then ever its incredibly hard to get people to notice your work. I recently started a book that was based on art. After some reading it was clear that art is not something you just put in a gallery, art is the craft, ideation, and life of an idea or concept. Not only this, but art isnt made by artists, its made by everyone, so this quote could apply to more people then just artists.

I can see this being applied to myself in more then one way. At times I feel like I go unnoticed, but then again at other times I end up being the center of attention for a short while.

I see this very easily applying itself to my life. One of my biggest fears is getting a job that I hate, and cant find a way out of without some huge negative impact. With my major I'm hoping that work wont seem like work, and optimistically that will end well.
"Meden Agan (Nothing in Excess)" - Temple of Apollo at Delphi
I try to live by this ideology and apply it to everything I do. It tells me that working too much is unhealthy but also that not enough work is just as bad. If you live your life trying to put everything into a balance, it will work out in the end.

I was told this one by my father and it's had a huge impact on me. It helps me cope with the deaths of those I knew by remembering the good times, but it can also be used on smaller scales as well. The quote means looking at the journey, or the path taken, not the starting point or the destination. One should take joy in working to complete something, not in just the final outcome.
Tiff: "She stood in the storm and when the wind did not blow her away, she adjusted her sails."
Despite the obvious fact that I'm not female, I believe that the quote applies to anyone and everything struggling with hardships. The idea that even in a storm, you can adjust your sails to change your direction is a powerful message. Even when you're struggling with a lot in your life, you can pull through if you try.

I think that this is something that most people go day to day without thinking about. Everyone gets caught up in how busy they are and how much they need to get done, but if they just sat down and looked outside or admired the beauty of the world around them, they'd be able to relax and find a little calm in an ocean of waves.

This quote has been a favorite of mine, mostly just because its a good reminder that not everything has been explored and that you can always learn something new.

This quote is probably my favorite song lyric of all time. Not super light-hearted, but this song was the push I needed to carry on in times where I wasn't so sure of anything, and to trust that it will all work out in the end. And it did, imagine that. :D

I think that this is one I should probably start to follow, I've never heard it before, but I tend to cut my finances a little closer than I should, and this is a good reminder that I should watch out!

I really enjoy your second post because it's completely true. You can get away with certain things in art because everyone is suppose to be pushing boundaries in art to become innovative.

This is my favorite quote by far. I like it so much, because it reminds me that no matter how crappy a day has been or how great it was, every day is a new day and we can't live in the past.
"You can have whatever you are willing to struggle for."
You will see a commonality in my favorite quotes, they all are meant to motivate me. I like this quote more and more because every day I look at this quote on my wall and it gives me the motivation to keep trying to accomplish my academic and personal goals.
"The only person you need to be better than... Is the person you were yesterday."
I like this because it reminds me not to compare myself to others, because everyone is different and the most we can do is focus on making ourselves better and not worry about comparing to what anyone else has done.
