Most Influential Person

Over this semester, we have asked ourselves "What makes us who we are?" This leads us to asking ourselves another question: "Who has made us who we are?"

Please share with us the top one or two influential people in your life, and why.

The very most influential person in my life has been Jesus Christ. Even without His centrality in Christianity, His claim to be God, or that He saved the world from sin, Jesus' life is one that any person could aspire to. I want to live like Jesus lived: to love every single person I meet, to not judge a person for who they are or what they have done, to forgive, to give tirelessly to others, to proclaim what I believe without fear, to unwaveringly follow God's mission for my life, to be a positive influence in someone's life.

My second most influential person is my parents - everyday I realize more and more how much I am like them. Their example and how they raised me has made more of an influence on who I am today than any other living person. I still continue to look up to them, and rely on them for support and advice. It was my parents that taught me the values of discipline, responsibility, and genuine care for other people besides myself.

I dont really have 2 people that influenced me, it's more a variety of people.

My entire family has influenced me to be a very down to earth, independent person. I've learned that in order to be a respectful person I need to work hard at what I do and stick up for what I believe in. They have always taught me to make my own decisions so that I will learn from my experiences and become a better person. Sometimes being as independent as I am frustrates them, but also makes them proud.

Most people growing up hate school and I admit a couple of days I just didn't want to go, but I feel like my teachers got me through it, which made school for me much more exciting than most people might believe. These teachers have taught me the basis of education and how important education is in a society like ours. I took a variety of classes, but it was always the arts that stuck with me. My art teacher was so passionate about the arts that I wanted to be just like him. I wanted to get people motivated on a subject that's so amazing and spontaneous. I looked up to all my teachers and now they have influenced me to make the decision to be a teacher in my future.

(I know I can't have more, but TOO BAD I WILL)

My friends have been really important to me because they have pushed me to succeed in things that I might think I can't do. In high school, my friends influenced me to be involved with a lot of activities which is why I feel like I take on a leadership role almost effortlessly. They are very important people in my life and while they may be dorks, I still love them all.

This is a hard one to boil down to one or two figures.
I would have to say first off my Father. He has been probably the most influential in my life for a few reasons: I'm his only son, I'm "more helpful" then my older sisters, and I'm a lot more prone to getting manual labor done. In life I'm hoping to succede as an Industrial Designer, which he hinted that I might be interested in a long time ago, and im hoping to become successful so I can help him and my mom live a happy rest of their lives.

The other most influential person would probably be a mixed bag of "best friends." The reason they are in quotes is because its in question at this point, friends come and go, just as best friends do. However, a lot of those best friends have made a major impact on who I am today, and although I would have liked them to stay in my life, that's something that couldn't happen. They taught me to stand up for myself, be myself, as well as be willing to help others stand for themselves.

My father has been the most influential person in my life hands down. He is the most influential because of the way he composes himself throughout his whole life in every situation. Even with having three jobs he still puts his family’s needs and wants first.

The most influential person in my life would be God. It is impossible to please the world but what I believe is that a perfect God loves and is pleased by an imperfect me. I live my life to glorify him and also through the word of God I have structure and guidence in my life even when life is overwhelming and busy.

My mom is the second most influential person in my life. She keeps me intact but can remind me of who I am when I loose myself through the business and struggles of life. Things were not handed to my mom on a silver platter and she has gone through alot. The way she carries her self and puts anyone before herself inspires me to be like her. She is the most loving person that I know but also fair and pacient.

The top two influential persons in my life are my parents(considering them as one person) and my sister. My parents have played a larger role than any other person in making who I am today. All throughout my life my parents have pushed me to try for something better and never settle for second best. If it weren't for them I don't even know who I would be today for they influenced my religious views, political views, and my core values.

My sister I would consider to be the second most influential person in my life. Although we are not blood related, I can't think of anyone else that I share more in common with. She has always been there to support me and to give me advice. She has influenced who I am today by being a role model for me to follow.

I admire and respect both my parents and my sister. This is why I think they are the most influential.

My most influential person in my life would be Jesus, a solid chunk of who I am, and choices I make are based off of his example, and I don't really know that I'd have any motivation to do anything or be around if it weren't for him.

The second most influential person on my life is probably my dad. I learned alot of good things from him, but I also learned alot of things that I don't want to do or be. The most influential thing i learned from him was that I don't want to be an engineer like him, I want to grow up and be my own man, which is something I carry with me everyday.

I'd have to say that the most influential person in my life has been my older brother. He has always been a role model and someone who I always strove to be like. He is successful in most things that he does and growing up, I wanted to be like him. Now that I've been in college a few years, I've been able to become my own person, but I can see many of the things that I learned from him in myself.

Thanks everyone for sharing.

For me the most influential people in my life have been my grandma who overcame a lot of struggles in her life and is the number one reason I even went to college and Adeline who has taught me more than I ever thought a child could.
