It's time to say good bye to Whitney, Colin, Dan, Kelsey, & Kollin. Please share with all of us a way they have helped you during their/your time here, a special memory, or what you appreciate about them.
Whitney, Colin, Dan, Kelsey & Kollin...please share any words of wisdom or motivation that you might have and be willing to share.
I would like to share...
Whitney thank you for your energy, sense of humor, motivation and strong work ethic on our staff. You are an impressive woman that I am extremely proud of...you will without any doubt be a wonderful Hall Director...where ever that may be!
Thank you Colin for your creativity, design skills, and quiet goofiness. You are an extremely talented individual that is sure to be successful in all that you do. Good luck next year with your Senior Project and Housing Design!

Dan it's been a great year and a half (three and a half if you count time in HK when I didn't supervise you)...there have been ups and downs but even those I have enjoyed because they made the time interesting! Good luck to you with your internship and future job (whatever that may be)!

Kelsey thank you for bringing calmness, steadiness, and flexibility to our staff for the past two years. All of that combined with your positive attitude has definitely carried us through some difficult and stressful times. Enjoy the off campus life!

Thank you Kollin for your sense of humor, go with the flow attitude, and maturity to our staff. Your dedication to and investment in your residents through mentorship has gone above and beyond expectations. Good luck with everything that you do in the future!

Colin: It was a blast not only getting to be your RA but also a co-worker. I was able to get to know you no a whole different level. I look forward to staying in touch!! :)
Kollin: You were a good staff buddy! You challenged me in ways that made me expand my bubble and my thought process. Thank you for that! I wish you the best next year!
Whitney: We'be butt heads here and there but overall I don't think that this year would have been the same without you and your stellar/infectious laugh! I will keep my fingers crossed for you and the HD search! :D
Kelsey: It's been interesting...some great stories over the past year or so....3 second looks, Margarita Mondays, crazy weekends ;) and I really appreciate you listening to me in the past week. You have been a rock for me this year and I don't think that I would have been able to keep a smile on my face this past week!
Everyone else: Thank you all for being a stellar staff! This has truly been one of the more trying years for sure but I am leaving here stronger than before and with some great memories. Good luck to everyone with their summers and whatever you choose to do in the future!
I would like my last blog to be words of wisdom from the mind of Whitney.
Remember that each of us in life has our own unique purpose. Just like a set of finger prints no one else has the same purpose as you. Your purpose will come so naturally to you that it will be as easy as breathing. It's not something you have to work on to get better at. It's not something you even need to think about. In fact you all are already living out your life's purpose everyday. Through your journey in life your purpose will bring you in contact with people who's hearts you will touch. You will leave your finger prints on their hearts and they will never be the same again.
How do I know all this, you may be asking? I truly believe that my purpose has brought me to this staff and you all have touch my heart and left finger prints that will never go away. I will never be the same because of knowing each of you!
For those of you staying of staff for next year I wish you good luck next year and I hope you have a great year. For those of you leaving staff and beginning the chapter I like to call "Life After Housing" it is just as big of an adjustment to leave as it was when you began. To all of you I hope you have a great summer break and I hope you keep in touch with me, where ever I end up!
DAN
It’s true…you are the man. You have such a strong mind set, but you are respectful and understanding of all people. You may be larger than many people, but that includes your heart! And a true hero is not measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart.
KOLLIN
Oh Kollin,…that’s what she said. We ride together, we die together. Bad boys for life.
KELSEY
You are so calm and kind and steady no matter how stressed you are. You may not always speak your mind, but that’s because you’re selective of what you say, and when you do share it’s always good ideas. I am glad to have had you as my floor buddy as you helped me so much this year. You were always so willing to help when I asked no matter how heavy your work load was. I appreciate you!
WHITNEY
You already know you’re my favorite DSM! That’s because your thoughts are driven with both DIRECTION and MAGNITUDE! You are fun but serious, and kind but stern. You are the master of playing around but still always getting work done. You are so professional, I couldn’t help but try my best to meet all the expectations you asked of me, because you did the same. I know you’ll do great at whatever you land on for your next square of the life board!
COLIN
You are one of the kindest and most selfless people I know. I don’t know anyone that knows you and doesn’t rave about your awesomeness. Your door is always open when you’re in your room and it was great to have you right there whenever I wanted to talk for a bit. I have learned a lot from you this year, and I consider you a good friend of mine. You’re one of fifty-three facebook friends, so I’d say that says something. You are wise beyond your years, you have more experiences than I think I will have when I’m fifty, your talent is literally limitless and your ingenuity and focus are awe worthy and inspiring. Yet all the while, you are the most humble person in the world. We smashed, we youtubed, we slickdealed, we so excited, we talked about everything. I will miss you!
I'll keep my last words quick. I would like to first off thank you all for a wonderful year filled with memories and experiences! And if I could leave you all with a few words that have gotten me thus far in life and that I would like to share with you all: Never be afraid to try something new, and never leave for tomorrow what you could have today.
~Thank you all again!
Whitney: Thanks for bring all of that energy you have stored up to our staff this year it has been fun. Watching you laugh makes me laugh. Also for teaching me a few more things at the desk I appreciate it.
Colin: Thanks for all of the great candy this year Collin I love candy its tasty. Its been fun and I hope you do well although I know you will because you have more talent in you field than anyone I know.
Dan: Thanks Dan for pushing me to be an RA way back in the day. I probably would not have done that if you didn’t give me the application. I hope you have fun living in the cities and I’m sure I’ll see you over the summer.
Kelsey: I feel a bit weird writing this to you for reasons that do not need to be said. It’s been fun on staff and I hope you have a good relaxing summer. I think I’ll see you again sometime but you never know.
Kollin: You have been a good floor partner we don’t waste any time on tasks which I like. The humor you bring to the staff is great although some times disgusting. Ill see you around next year hope you have a good summer.
Oh my, these past two years have gone by quickly! I have had my fair share of great times and memories as well as a few that I wouldn't mind forgetting :) But this past year was definitely full of memories I will never forget. It has been a pleasure working with all of you and getting to know each of you on a personal level. You all are wonderful, caring, hard working individuals. And as hard as it is to say goodbye sometimes, I know everyone is going there separate directions to do great things!
Some final thoughts before I leave this job would be to keep an open mind. Also, have the ability to laugh at yourself-don't always take yourself so seriously and be able to make mistakes but move on and learn from them. I wish all of you the best of luck in the years to come!!
Thanks everyone for an awesome year. I have gotten the opportunity to learn so much about myself this year through a variety of experiences. I have also learned how to be a part of an effective team. I have enjoyed connecting with each and every one of you throughout the year. I wish the best of luck to all of you whether it is continuing on in housing or starting a new chapter of your life.
Words of Wisdom:
Always remember how lucky you are. You have food to eat, a roof above your head, and you are getting an education. Only about one percent of the world population has a college degree. Don't be afraid of change. Half the staff is staying and half is moving on. It will take a while for the new staff and returning staff to bond and create an effective team. But I am sure the staff next year will be as awesome as this year.
Kollin: Thank you for your humor. I enjoy being around you because you always seem to be smiling and laughing. A favorite memory of mine was when we watched Monsters in your room (that YOU picked out) and we were making fun of the octopus sex and you were guessing what was going to happen and then the movie just ended (thank goodness!!) You will always have the legacy of your air freshener... like I said, you can smell it anywhere haha
WHITNEY: You have been SO HELPFUL this year (haha). From handing me pens to offering to wipe an inch of the table, to asking if I need help getting all the cups, you have really been a big help to me on my first semester on staff.;)But in all seriousness, you were a great DSM- I felt like you had it under control all the time and I learned many new things about working the desk from you even though I used to be a desk assistant. I wish you the best of luck in your HD endeveors and I know wherever you go people will appreciate your laugh...its kind of your legacy. Keep laughing!
Dan: I'm glad after all these years as a student you are finally able to get out into the 'real world.' I know from talking to your old residents that you have made their experience a great one at Stout and I hope to do the same. My favorite memories with you are sipping tea at Raw Deal, walking arm in arm, cuddling at the leadership retreat (haha), you going down the snow hill in all your nice clothes, and drawing the little diagrams in sex class (pea, backdoor, etc). Best of luck on your practicum, I know you'll do great!
Kelsey: Yay for being the other girl RA!!! It has been so great getting to know you, and you are just one of the nicest people I have ever met. I appreciate all you have done for me as my staff buddy by helping me get to know the routes of the RA job and being there as a resource if I had a question. I enjoyed learning all about wedding planning from you (haha) and maybe one day when I'm engaged I'll have to give you a call!! lol. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck on your next year and I know wherever you go or whatever you do, you'll succeed :)
Collin: Oh Collin, where to start? I have really enjoyed getting to know you this semester and honestly I feel like I've gotten to know a celebrity just cause everybody loves Collin Schye! My favorite memories with you have to be just stopping my your room on rounds and every time you just seemed genuinly happy to see me and we would talk for awhile.. that was probably my favorite! You will always be remembered in my mind for 'see ya later bye', you're rocker face (with hand gesture), your epic photography skills, your hats, the turtle man, and falling asleep during training. haha. So best of luck with your next year and I hope we can stay in touch cause you're pretty much awesome. :) 'see ya later bye!' PS good luck getting that money tree!
Colin:
I really enjoyed getting to know you and work with you. You have assisted me with my attempts at insight into you many different computer programs and how they work, and humored my many questions. I also enjoyed our many late night conversations which often drug out my midnight rounds by an extra 30-40 minutes. Good luck with your new position with Housing Design.
Kollin:
I wish that we could have gotten to know each other a little earlier in the semester, but it was great to get to know you a little here at the end. It was great to experience you as a co-worker, and I enjoyed the humor which you frequently brought to meetings and events. Best of luck next year.
Dan:
Thanks for guiding me in the staff adventure, and for providing that RA role model last year when I was on your floor. Good luck with your internship and with your later endeavors. P.S. Stealing babies IS illegal.
Whitney:
Thanks for being a great DSM to me. You made my late incorporation to the desk staff flow very easily, and taught me many skills which I will use next year. Good luck with being a Hall Director where ever you may end up.
Kelsey:
Outside of staff meetings and HEC events, we did not have many opportunities for interaction. I enjoyed the little that I was able to work with you, and appreciate everything that you helped me learn at the front of my staff experience. The skills and procedures will continue to serve me next year here in the big MC. Good luck with the finishing out of your college career.
Thanks everyone for your comments and/or insights!
