Summer Highlights

Hi everyone...I hope that all of you have enjoyed your summer and are excited to be getting back on campus. I'm SUPER EXCITED to have you all coming back over the upcoming days...it's a bit quiet around here without you.

Tomorrow I will be sending out a newsletter to each of you that gives you information about when you should be moving back...it also explains a bit about this blog...since this random request may be confusing to you!

If you're ready...you can start this bloggin adventure by posting a List of Highlights from your summer...it can be funny, interesting, silly, disgusting, scary, etc. If you need a little help, wait until my newsletter arrives...you'll find the list of highlights from my summer in it.

Happy blogging and I'll see you all soon!

Take care & safe travels.

KELLY

Well, I guess I will break the ice.

My summer started off at temporarily moving in with my best friend’s family. They are Indian so I was able to enjoy delicious, homemade, Indian food. During this time, I truly gained a second family of 6.

While in Minneapolis, I took an online statistics class finishing my math requirements I needed.
Also, I went through a four week process getting a crown put on my front tooth as a result of my bike accident that happened a year ago.

I have been up north by Pelican Rapids spending time at another friend’s cabin fishing and hanging out, throwing a Frisbee, swimming, and getting to know that family.

After about a month of summer, I joined my parents at their home in Vero Beach, Florida where I have been relaxing on the beach and getting my mom’s awesome cooking that I only get about twice a year. It is wonderful being down here 3 miles from the ocean. When I first came down, I got my bottom wisdom teeth out. Unfortunately, it was a two week long recovery with a dry socket and an infection in my stomach lining.

While with my parents in Florida, we traveled to Dothan, Alabama (where I spent 11 years of my life) to visit my brother, his wife, his 13 month old daughter, Brookelynn, and newborn son, Rylan. What a busy household! I saw other people that used to play big roles in my life too.

To end my summer, my parents and I toured a freshly squeezed oj factory. I will be heading back to Minneapolis tomorrow in preparation for the move back in about two weeks.

Hmm Well my summer kind of started with my mom coming to visit me here in the states. Some of you know that she came, some of you even met her. She was helping me finishing out the year and then we had about 5 days afterwards to just do what we wanted. Since my hostfamily is a big fan of shopping and my mom wanted to go, that is what we did. Later on that week we both flew over the ocean.
My mom went back home to Rathenow in Germany, I went to Helsinki in Finland. I was taking a two week class called Organizational Leadership in Tampere, Finland. It was really neat. I met some great people there as well as toured some great companies. We went to visit businesses like the hospital, metro minerals, pro academy and a brewery. My favorite was the Pro Academy it is like an Entrepeneur school by being out in the businesss but not without school. Its hard to explain but it is a really neat place.
A couple girls and I visited Helsinki for a couple days after our Class and then I flew back to Germany. A week later the couple girls came to visit me at home. That was super neat! They loved it. I got to tour them around in Berlin and learned a lot about the town myself that i knew of but not in such detail.
After that I started my internship with my parents. It was a lot of programs that I had to learn and a lot of responsibility that i had to take on. It was a good time though. It helped a lot because my parents are always in Berlin so I was able to be in the office and take care of things there.
While taking my internship I was spending time with friends, hanging out with people I havent seen in a long time.
My parents friends have a little girl so they came to visit a few times and she just wanted me to play with her all the time. It was so much fun.
We also got a puppy this summer. He is a german shephard, golden retriever mix and he is black. :) Super cute, his name is Simba.
He is going to be so big when I see him again. But at least I was there when we got him.
And then I flew back over the sea and now I am back in school.
