Laura, Josh, Mikaela, Jack, Grant & Heather...please share any words of wisdom or motivation that you might have and be willing to share.
I would like to share...
Laura thank you for your never ending creativity, motivation and strong work ethic on our staff. You are an impressive woman that I am extremely proud of...you will without any doubt be a wonderful DSM in Wigen next year! Don't be a stranger!
Mikaela thank you for being the energy of our staff for the past two years. You're positive attitude and GO TEAM focus have definately carried us through some difficult and stressful times. Good luck to you in your job search...you have amazing skills and any employer would be lucky to have you!
Jack it's been a great three and a half years...there have been ups and downs but even those I have enjoyed! I will always remember fondly your stint as the Geek of the Week campaign, the summer you email stalked me, and the positive influence you had on everyone! Good luck to you with your new job, it sounds amazing and like a perfect fit for you.
I have appreciated Grant's down to business attitude, influence with his floor, and perservance when it comes to trying to crack a joke! It was an easy deicsion to nominate you for the Cornerstone Award this year and I was so excited to see you up on that stage getting the recognition you deserve for all your hardwork! Good luck with your job search and the wedding. I wish you and Laurie much happiness!

Hi Guys!
Sad day:( Some words of wisdom I have is to not get in over your head! I have been there, done that and it isn't much fun. You begin to resent your floor, your staff, and those close to you. You are doing anyone any favors and it makes for a not so much fun year. It is really reassuring to say yes to friends, staff, etc. but it is okay to say no or not right now, they will understand.
Some motivation...never give up on the power of "GO TEAM!" Keep up your enthusiasm for the job and those around you. It is a lot more fun to have multiple people as the enthusiastic one, then relying on one individual to carry the team. If you are feeling down and out, push through it, do something goofy and (in the words of Hanz and Franz, SNL...kind of) I'm going "to pump *clap* YOU UP!!" :)
La La La La ..... i cant believe the year is almost over! Time just flew by! I am so thankful and blessed to work with such amazing people!
words of wisdom... You dont always need to do things by yourself. I find that i like to take on things on because i think i can handle them on my own. But there are many people who are more than willing to help share the burden... Also, learn to prioritize time...
I hope that as we all go our separate ways that we all remember the fun times we had together and take something special away with us.
For starters it was awesome to meet everyone and I would like to thank everyone for welcoming me into the staff. Lots of good memories and more importantly good friendships. Hopefully I will cross paths with everyone again but if not best of luck to everyone it was a great semester.
Well as far as words of wisdom I guess just always remember don’t get worked up over the little things and don’t take things to serious unless you have to AS I quote the great Van Wilder “Don’t take life to serious or you will never get out alive”
Words of Wisdom:
Don't think to hard.... you can think yourself right out of the wrong answer!
Get to know people. Like your Hall Director, Staff Members and Professors. All of them are valuable allies. Professors are (usually)very understanding of RAs and the ... fun ... challenges we face.
Also, there is life outside of Housing. Take time to recharge every once in a while. It will make all of the above relationships go smoother, as well as those with your residents.
Oh yeah, and sleep is always a good thing.
Thanks Mikaela, Laura, Josh, Grant & Heather for sharing. Now we just need to hear from Jack, Sara, Mike, & Liz.
Never take anything you do too seriously in this job. Doing so will burn you out faster than you care to know. Also dont take anyone you work for or with too seriously ever. Many people get stressed in this job and you may get caught in someones storm of bad mood. Remember people all have their moments. Keep yourself on an even keel by taking frequent time to yourself. Blow off your own steam, dont let it get blown at someone else
Breathe deep, seek peace.
This past semester has flown by. It has been a great semester working with you and being a part of your staff. I have known some of you since I have been at Stout and had the opportunity to meet you this semester. All of you have truly unique personalities and skills that will lead you through your journey through life. I wish all of you the best life has to offer.
Words of wisdom: Do a job you enjoy waking up in the morning to go to and don't settle for anything less.
Grant what can I say that hasn't already been said. I really enjoyed having someone to talk football with that's always awesome. It was fun being around you too I know when you land a job you will excel at it and be worth your weight in gold.
Josh, thanks for being a team player and a hell of a nice guy. YOu are always fun to talk with and open to almost anything. Had a great time getting to know you, hopefully we can hang out next year sometime. Have a great summer, keep at it for football.
Heather, thanks for being an awesome staff buddy and keeping things in line, when i neglect to do so. I appreciate all the help you have given me throughout the year. As you already know a work ethic such as yours will take you places, wishing continued success in the future.
Laura, hey there, well i don't know what to say here, but you always do a great job where ever you end up. Hope next year as a DSM goes well for you. Live it up have fun, ttyl
Mikaela, working with you was great fun and i know your future co-workers will think the same way I appreciated your help and guidance
Jack - You have helped me so much throughout the year with great advice about the position and life in general. The help you gave me was invaluable and I will try my best to carry it over to next year and help the other RA's when needed. I hope we see each other in the future. I know you will be extremely successful in all that you do. I wish you and Amelia all the happiness in the world and hope you have tons of fun with Atticus this summer. Peace
Thank you Jack, Liz, and Mike.
I dont know where to start. So much could be shared and it would not even say enough about what you have done. So I would like to share a quote that reminds me of you.
Jack:"It's 'intense'......Like camping!" It's a quote that stays because it just has that little extra, that humor that you brought to staff or that energy that you suddenly develope to roll up a hill. Good luck in your future and with your job
Grant:"Get some!" I think it just says it all! Motivation,Dedication, Business and fun as long as we get it done! Enjoyed having you as my floor buddy!!
Josh:"Seven?", "Applesauce!" Hahahaha good times all semester! Thank you for making this semester FANTASTIC :D
Laura:"Zwei Dinge sind zu unserer Arbeit nötig: Unermüdliche Ausdauer und die Bereitschaft, etwas, in das man viel Zeit und Arbeit gesteckt hat, wieder wegzuwerfen." ~Albert Einstein
You have both. But it transfers into everything you do in life! Which makes for an amazing you. Thank you for everything.
Mikaela:
"If you concentrate on finding whatever is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul."
~ Rabbi Harold Kushner ~
Thank you for BEING the good in every situation. There are times I could have not made it without you.
Heather:"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love. ~Author Unknown" - She understands :)Thank you!!
Thank you everyone for being a great staff my first year as an RA!
"I wish you enough!"
Thank you Sara for ending this blog on such a great note. Wonderful words.
